Celtic’s captain Kelly Clark has served the club for seven seasons already and led the side out in two League Cup finals, and is determined to make it third time lucky and lift a trophy this season.
Previously a full-back, Clark lines out for Celtic at both centre midfiled and centre back, looking to control the game either way and has been playing since she was 7 years old. Starting her career with local girls’ side Arbroath Inchcape Strollers, at just 15, then Forfar manager Mark Nisbet handed Clark her first team debut before she captured the attention of Celtic.
Establishing herself as a mainstay in the side, Clark quickly reaped the rewards, winning the club’s 2014 Player of the Year gong and the captaincy. Despite confessing to going through a difficult period that nearly saw her quit the game, she credits assistant manager David Haley for keeping her on the ball.
The side’s appointed leader keeps her game, “simple - win the ball and try and keep it.”
