Celtic defender Chloe Craig has faced Hibernian numerous times in her 211 appearances for the club – but this year, it’s different.

The 28-year-old says Sunday’s match will be tough but believing in themselves is all the team need to secure the three points.

“They’ve added players, but we’ve also added players. We’ve shown against City that we’re ready to compete and we’ve shown the level we’re at,” she said.

“We’ve been scoring a lot of goals as well. We have a huge amount of talent in our team so it’s nothing that we’re threatened of, we just need to go out there and play our game.”

Hibs began their campaign with two dominant wins over Spartans and Motherwell and currently sit atop of the league table.

But having belief is something Craig says changed the tides in their fixtures against Glasgow City, which saw Celtic secure a comeback draw.

Craig said all it took was an uplifting half-time team talk from manager Fran Alonso and the coaching staff to motivate girls, as well as fresh legs off the bench.

“They just told us to believe in ourselves,” she said. “We doubted it a little bit because of the new formation.

“But Fran really picked us up and so did David telling us that we are Celtic, we are a good enough team to go out and compete and to win this match.”

She said the team are adapting to Alonso’s fluid systems and changing line-ups - something that took getting used to in the first half of the Glasgow City match.

“I actually quite enjoy it,” she said. “It’s something that we work on every single day, so everyone knows their positions and what they need to do.

“It isn’t a difficult formation for us, or any different because Fran does work on it. He takes us one by one and shows us what we need to do, if it is working for us then why not.”

Celtic will take on Hibernian in their second home game of the season at the Penny Cars Stadium this Sunday, 26th September – 12:30pm kick-off.
