Lee: Nothing can beat getting your first goal in a derby

For super-sub Mariah Lee, there was no better way to open her account in the Hoops, as she burst forward to find the net and seal all three points for the Celts against Rangers at Paradise in a "do or die" match.

The American’s pace and composure to finish from just inside the box sent the Hoops into raptures at Paradise in a moment the 24-year-old couldn’t have asked for much more of, as she moved Celtic to within two points of the Champions League slots.

“It’s always fun to score goals and it's even better to do it on the big stage in the games that are do or die, so it felt good to get to the scoreboard and get my first goal. Probably nothing could beat getting your first goal in Celtic Park, in the derby against Rangers so it was amazing,” she said inside Celtic Park.

Lee proved an unwanted tricky threat for the Rangers defence when she came on, but it was her willing and frightening pace and steely composure that was the difference, as the attacker said she felt it in her bones that it was there for the taking.

“I was prepared, I’m always looking to come in and make an impact.

“Playing Rangers in Celtic Park - it doesn’t get any better than that.

“I had a feeling we were going to pull out a win going into tonight, I knew everyone was going to give it their all and I’m so proud of the team,” she added.
