Who knows how far Johnstone can go, says Logan

By Colette Carr

The sky is the limit for young upcoming keeper Rachael Johnstone says Celtic’s number 1, as Chloe Logan hailed the exciting prospect not only for her ability, but also for pushing her too.

The former Under-19s keeper linked up with the first team ahead of the new season and has settled into senior football so comfortably that her efforts on the training pitch were awarded by Fran Alonso with her first team competitive debut against Motherwell last weekend.

And Logan had high praise for the Scotland Under-17s stopper, sharing her high hopes for the 16-year-old and dubbing her one to watch.

“Rachael’s an incredible talent,” she began.

“She’s really young and only 16 but she’s 100 times better than what I was when I was 16, so going forward she’s got great foundations to build on and work hard, and if she applies herself properly who knows where she can be.

“For me it’s a breath of fresh air in training - she’s got so much energy, she’s challenging me, and doesn't look out of place in this squad at all, and for such a young person it shows great character and I’m just really happy to have her in training. She adds something new and as well as improving herself she’s going to improve me, so it’s a great thing.”

Celtic next play Glasgow City on Sunday 17 January at K-Park in a 2pm kick-off.
