Jacynta happy to see hard work rewarded with minutes

By Colette Carr

Returning to the fold hasn’t been an easy ride for Jacynta Galabadaarachchi, but the Australian is remaining focused as she enjoys a second lease of life at Celtic.

The winter signing had knuckled down to earn her opportunity and was rewarded by getting the nod from the bench against Hibs, but, as luck would have it, despite an impressive outing concussion protocol ruled her out of the midweek meeting with Motherwell in which she had secured her spot for with her performance in the 2-1 victory.

But despite the irritating enforced absence, the forward grabbed her next opportunity with both hands against Partick Thistle, and even though she’s had to come through the wars in that week, coming away with a black eye, she’s desperate to keep forcing her way into Fran Alonso’s plans.

“It was really frustrating,” she began.

“I didn’t think it was that bad, but I was a bit dizzy so with protocols, it is what it is but I was happy when I came on and did well. I got a little bit of game-time against Thistle and thought I did well but I got a black eye five minutes in, which is clearly my luck, but I feel good now, the black eye's gone and I’ve had a good week of training so I’m feeling confident and ready for Sunday.”

Ahead of Sunday’s trip to newly promoted Hamilton Accies in South Lanarkshire, Jacynta noted her thanks to the coaches for picking up on her hard graft and hopes that coming onto two very contrasting game scenarios in the Hibs and Thistle victories will help her going forward as she looks to re-establish herself further.

“I’m happy the staff can see how hard I’ve been working to get into the squad, but I was just happy the hard work paid and hopefully I can keep getting game-time.

“It was really good. I came on at a good time against Hibs and we were doing well and I felt I adjusted well and it was a good game to come into moving forward. It’s nice to come on and help the team regardless of how the game is going.

“I’m expecting Hamilton to fight for every ball. They seem like a fighting side with quality in the team and you can’t underestimate anyone and just do the best we can.”
