With the final round of the season just around the corner, winter signing Jacynta Galabadaarachchi is relishing the challenge ahead, as she looks to kick on and solidify her place back in Fran Alonso’s starting eleven.

Jacynta enjoyed a fine start to life at Celtic, picking up assists and being unlucky not to find herself on the scoresheet. And while she ran into a temporary roadblock to her Celtic career through injury, the 19-year-old says she “feeling good” ahead of the visit of Motherwell.

“I’ve been enjoying it since I’ve got here and it’s good that we’ve been getting into a bit of a rhythm.

“The girls have been getting good game time after such a long time off, but I’ve been happy ever since I’ve joined and we’ve had a good couple of games so hopefully it keeps continuing on.

“I felt like I was getting into a good rhythm, but the injury kind of set me back a little bit because I didn’t get to play the Rangers game which was upsetting, but we got the win that was good, but this week I feel like I’m really back to full fitness and I’m feeling a lot better.

“I was a bit disappointed because I was feeling like I was part of the team and getting a feel for everything but these things happen. It’s not hurting anymore, so hopefully I can get back to assisting and hopefully scoring,” she told.

With Celtic completing the second round of fixtures this Sunday with the visit of Motherwell, the young Matilda admits she now has a better grasp of her new league, having taken it all in from the pitch and the stands. And while it’s a competition she’s enjoyed so far, she knows it’s not one to underestimate.

“I’ve got a good grip of what the league is like now; it’s aggressive and I’m enjoying it.

“With the Italian league and the Super League I’d say it’s quite similar and I can definitely see the potential in this league and I know from Fran that it’s getting better and better.

You don’t underestimate any team. We need to go into Motherwell with full focus and give it our best. Hopefully it’ll be a good game, but we focus on that game, and then the next, and the next and the next,” she added.
