Celts gear up for huge Scottish Cup quarter final

“BELIEF” was the buzzword for assistant manager Michael Tuohy, as Celtic gear up for a Scottish Cup quarter final clash with Glasgow City.

The Hoops’ 2-0 win over St Johnstone in the last 16 booked their place in the quarter finals and now Tuohy is looking for the players to create even more self-belief with a victory at K-Park on Sunday.

“There’s a good tempo to training this week and the girls are obviously excited for a little break from the league and to be able to concentrate on the quarter-final,” he told at Lennoxtown.

“The team have built great momentum at K-Park and our intention is to build on that.”

Celtic’s unbeaten run of seven matches came to a close last month after a bitterly disappointing 1-0 loss at Glasgow City’s Petershill, but Tuohy says that only shows the players’ capabilities, and praised their belief system as they prepare to face them again.

“We obviously played Glasgow City recently in a really even game and we know the girls don’t have any fear going into it, which maybe was there in the past, but we know we have the ability to put ourselves into positions to win these kind of games.

“Glasgow City and Hibs have set the standard for a long time, and we’ve put ourselves in a position to match them this year, and as I say there’s belief in our ability to win the game and get to the semi final,” he told.

Celtic play Glasgow City in the Scottish Cup quarter-final at K-Park, Sunday, September 15 KO: 2pm. Adults £5, concessions £3 and under-16s free - pay at the gate.
