Bowie keen to make her mark whenever opportunities come

By Colette Carr

Academy graduate Tegan Bowie says she’ll try to create as many chances as possible with whatever opportunities she gets, as the teenager enjoys stamping down her place in Fran Alonso’s squad.

The 17-year-old has had her part to play this season so far and has impressed whether she had climbed off the bench or been named in the starting eleven, but no matter when or how she gets on the pitch, the task at hand is always the same for Bowie.

“I just try to bring as much as possible, whether I’m at fullback or the wing, I try to attack and create opportunities. With whatever minutes I can get, I’ll try and create as much as I can,” she explained.

Like her fellow Academy graduates, Bowie knows the influence the experienced players are having on her development and her first season in top flight football, but the young wide player also pointed to a couple of Alonso’s winter signings who have had an impact on her game, namely Jacynta, who she’s enjoying a flourishing relationship with on the flanks.

“I think me and Jaz are working together really well up and down the wing, and bringing in the likes of Anna, who has great technical ability and understanding of the game is great, so it’s great to play with these kinds of players.

“It’s a challenge and fighting for places is always hard, but that’s what you want to make sure you improve. It makes you put another 10% on your efforts to make sure you’re giving it everything at training or in games,” she added.
