Munro Ready to Tackle Rehab Head On in 2019

Munro and McAneny with trophiesWhile Celtic’s under-15s outfit are raring to mimic their accolades in 2019, for Mhairi Munro, it’s all about getting back to fitness and back on the pitch.

The youngster, who has signed for a second season at the Academy, reflected on an exciting 2018 on the back of the SWF award but conceded that her focus is on her upcoming operation and rehab programme.

“I thought it was tough from the nominees there were, and we didn’t expect but it has been a good season for my first year here. I wasn’t at the Dana Cup, but it’s fantastic the squad being invited back, so hopefully we can show what we have got and win it again,” she began.

After rupturing her anterior cruciate ligament, Munro is now readying herself for an operation in January and stressed that while she can’t wait to get back, it will have to be at the right moment and not at the expense of a full recovery.

“I’ve ruptured my ACL so I’ve got an operation in January, so next year is all about rehab. It is about getting back, but I don’t want to push myself back too fast, so we’ll wait and see,” she admitted.

But while it will be some time before she is back in the mix, she is confident her teammates have the ability to dominate the Performance League again, saying, “every single player is fantastic and they’ll just push as far as they can to win again.”
